I had the pleasure of being a part of Allie and Steve’s wedding day on Saturday, August 22 and I couldn’t be more honored that they chose me to be their wedding photographer. These two have such an amazing love for each other, their families, and their friends. They both radiate goodness, and sweetness! I don’t think I have ever been to a more touching union, ever. Just the presence of all of their families and friends spoke for itself. The words spoken by their family and friends at their ceremony touched everyone there. I am not going to lie, I might have shed a tear or two more than once… okay maybe more than twice! haha! I happen to know these two as friends and neighbors and have gotten to know them over the past few years. I love them to pieces and I am so ecstatic for them!

A little about the day… The wedding venue was the historic Rixey Manor in Rixeyville, Virginia. I was completely swept away by this amazing estate when I first visited with Allie and Steve for their Bridal Bootcamp. The anticipation that builds as you drive up the long drive and then first see the manor is truly amazing. I am sure all their guests felt such anticipation as they drove up the long drive on the wedding day. From the estate itself, the mountain views, to the horses galloping along the fence line, you are enchanted by Rixey Manor. Who wouldn’t want to get married there?!!!

Allie chose coral as her main color for wedding details (or rather it chose her). She couldn’t have picked a better color. It suits her so well! What a gorgeous summer color too. Her bridesmaids all looked amazing in the warm hue and the flowers and cake — just gorgeous! Her ombre’esque cake with intricate flowers was beautifully crafted by Mimi’s Sugar N Spice Cakes N Cupcakes. The bride wore a gorgeous wedding dress that was her mother’s. There is a beautiful story behind it… Allie had the dress altered into a cap sleeved tea-length dress. She then surprised everyone with the new alterations, including her mother. The pictures in this blog post capture the surprise to her mother, the unveiling of the dress, ‘their dress’. A couple of months ago we did a bridal portrait session and captured images of Allie in the original wedding dress, as her mother wore it. This was a secret surprise for her Mother the night before the wedding when she gave her an album of all the photos from the bridal portrait session. How sweetly amazing and thoughtful was that?! I teared up… I still do.

The wedding day went so smooth thanks to the wonderful owners of Rixey Manor, Isadora and Ben as well as the wedding coordinator Deb Johnson. What an amazing team of people! Everything operated seamlessly! After the gorgeous rooftop ceremony followed fun, dancing, and music. Every detail, from the tables and décor to the attire worn by the bride and groom and bridal party — no fine detail was missed. It truly was a perfect day for a perfect pair!

Congratulations to Steve and Allie — Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell! Wishing you both the best in life and the happiest of marriages! Cheers to love, living, and a happy life! Love you both!

I have been waiting a few weeks to post this engagement photo session and I cannot stand it any longer! I wanted to wait for Katie to receive her photo package and flash drive in the mail before sharing with the world. So, here it is… A gorgeous photo session during the spring blooms in Old Town Alexandria. I had an absolutely amazing day with Katie and Mike walking from place to place capturing their smiles, their sweetness, and them as a couple. They shared with me their favorite spots in Alexandria, historical places, architecture, and local eateries. I think some of my favorite pictures were at the Wilkes Street Tunnel, Cobblestone Street (Captains Row), and in the Carlyle House gardens. This was an absolutely perfect place for an engagement shoot! Congratulations Katie and Mike!

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph an engagement session in historical downtown Fredericksburg with Allie and Steve. They are the sweetest couple. I have known them for a few years now – they are the BEST neighbors and friends! They also just so happen to be the cutest pair. These two were perfectly coordinated for their session and they both looked fabulous! I had the best time spending the afternoon meandering downtown with them finding some great little spots for pictures. I couldn’t be happier with how their session went and the gorgeous photos that came out of it.

I am completely overjoyed about their upcoming wedding in late August at the nearby Rixey Manor in Rixeville. Have you seen this place? I visited the venue last weekend with Allie, her Mom, and Steve. The property and historic home are amazing! I highly recommend it as a wedding venue not only because of how beautiful it is but the couple that own Rixey Manor are fabulous and seem so accommodating. They even held a Bridal Bootcamp for the brides booked with them this year and next. What an awesome idea!

Congratulations again to Allie and Steve and stay tuned for some gorgeous wedding photos at the end of the summer.
